From October 2012, the Government is introducing legislation which is intended to encourage people to save for retirement.
The new law will require all employers to automatically enrol eligible staff into a qualifying workplace pension scheme if they are not already in one. Employers will also be required to make contributions to the scheme.
Each employer will be allocated a ‘staging date,’ based mainly on the number of employees on the payroll, by which time they must implement auto-enrolment.
There are over 40 staging dates. It is important you are aware of your staging date to allow enough time to prepare.

The Pensions Trust (www.tptae.org.uk ) estimates some employers will need over a year to get ready!
